    Daniel Stein

    President

    Dan Stein is an attorney who has worked for nearly 35 years in the field of immigration law and law reform. He has been in his present position as President since January 2003.

    Prior to leading FAIR, Mr. Stein was the Executive Director of the Immigration Reform Law Institute, a public interest litigation group that has represented a variety of organizations in immigration and administrative law matters.

    Mr. Stein has also been in private law practice in real estate, federal agency litigation, criminal law and tax-exempt corporate law.

    A native of Washington, D.C., Mr. Stein's interest in immigration began as a professional staff member of the U. S. House of Representatives' Select Committee on Narcotics Abuse and Control, where he studied U.S./Mexico border issues and international crop substitution efforts.

    Mr. Stein has published hundreds of articles on immigration policy, and through the years has appeared on national television thousands of times on just about every significant news program in America, has spoken to major groups across America, and has been asked to testify before Congress on related issues over 50 times.

    Mr. Stein is a graduate of Indiana University and the Catholic University School of Law.

    Bob has been with FAIR since 2006 serving as the organization's Press Secretary and Communications Director. His deep belief is that immigration is the most transformational determinant of where we are heading as a nation and that our policies must be reformed in the public interest. Over many years on thousands of radio, TV and print interviews, Bob has made the case that unless immigration is regulated and sensibly reduced, it will be difficult for America to reduce unemployment, increase wages, improve health care and education and heighten national security.

    Prior to joining FAIR, Bob spent twenty years in network radio, marketing and communications after an earlier career in policy and budgeting within the Reagan Administration.

    Bob has a degree from George Mason University in Public Administration and Management.

    Chief Financial Officer

    Jen joined FAIR in 2011. She has 25 years’ experience in non-profit accounting and several years’ experience in government and private accounting. Jen is responsible for strategic day-to-day financial activities; she serves as the senior financial leader who ensures the smooth and efficient operation of FAIR and Affiliates at the business and administrative level. Major responsibilities include: Financial reporting and control; business administration; accuracy and security of FAIR’s business and administrative records; governmental reporting; development of accounting, administrative, and personnel policies and managing the Information Technology of FAIR and affiliates.

    RJ Hauman

    Government Relations Director

    RJ Hauman joined FAIR in 2015, bringing valuable legislative, regulatory, and political experience to the organization. In his role, he oversees the Government Relations department and leads FAIR’s advocacy efforts before Congress and the administration. RJ also serves as a FAIR media spokesperson on a variety of immigration issues and pending legislation. During his time on Capitol Hill, RJ gained immigration policy experience as an aide to former Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-CA), who chaired the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration Policy and Enforcement. RJ holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Clemson University.

    Heather Ham-Warren

    Senior Government Relations Manager

    Heather Ham-Warren joined FAIR’s Government Relations department in 2018. In her role, Heather advocates for FAIR’s interests before Congress, the Administration, and federal agencies. She also reviews and analyzes federal legislation and regulations, as well as conducts research on a wide variety of legal and immigration-related topics. Heather brings with her several years of political and legislative experience having worked for legislatures at the both the state and federal levels. She began her career in D.C. working on Capitol Hill—most recently serving as Legislative Director for a Florida Republican on the House Judiciary Committee. Heather holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor from the Florida State University College of Law.

    Dave Ray

    Communications Director

    Dave rejoined FAIR in 2016 and brings more than thirty years of proactive communications experience working with non-profits, trade associations and the private sector. Dave has written and placed op-eds in more than 100 publications for national and state leaders in fields ranging from immigration to agriculture policy, food and energy. Ray has served as a chief spokesman for several national organizations and has extensive radio and television experience as well.

    Ira Mehlman

    Media Director

    Ira joined FAIR in 1986 with experience as a journalist, professor of journalism, special assistant to Gov. Richard Lamm (Colorado), and press secretary of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. His columns have appeared in National Review, LA Times, NY Times, Washington Post, Newsweek, and more. He is an experienced TV and radio commentator.

    Matthew Tragesser

    Matthew joined FAIR in 2018 as FAIR’s communications specialist.  Matthew is a primary media contact for the organization, and assists with all of the organization’s communication activities.  He brings previous experience in government research, writing, and communications. Before joining FAIR, Matthew worked in the Wisconsin State Senate as well as a Wisconsin political non-profit. Matthew holds a B.A. in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

    Shari Rendall brings to FAIR over 15 years of experience in government relations and grassroots advocacy. In her former position Shari led the legislation department in coordinating lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill and briefing congressional and administration staff on a wide range of issues. She has also been responsible for grassroots communications and helping state associations devise their legislative strategies. She began her time in D.C. working on Capitol Hill in the office of former Sen. Bob Smith (R-New Hampshire) as a Legislative Aide.

    Dave joined FAIR in 2017 after more than ten years as an Assistant State Attorney in Broward County, Florida. His prosecutorial experience covered trial litigation at the misdemeanor and felony levels, drug court and mental health court, and two years as an intake attorney in the juvenile division working closely with law enforcement. Before this, he was a legislative analyst/staff attorney with the Judiciary Committee of the Florida House of Representatives, where he assisted state legislators in ensuring the effectiveness and constitutionality of legislation on a wide variety of subject matter. In both capacities, he often dealt with the interaction of state law and immigration. Dave holds BAs in History and International Relations from American University and a JD from Tulane University Law School.

    Robert Najmulski

    Law Enforcement Relations Manager

    Robert joined FAIR February 2009 with 28 years of law enforcement experience as a Deputy Sheriff in Orange and Los Angeles Counties in California and Allen County, Ohio. He created and ran the Criminal Alien Task Force (2006) in Allen County and worked solely on criminal alien issues for 18 counties in northwest Ohio. Robert has conducted extensive public awareness and local government meetings regarding illegal immigration and has provided extensive in-service training for law enforcement officers and dispatchers.

    Colton joined FAIR in 2018 as a legislative advisor for state and local policy. Prior to FAIR,Colton responded to constituent needs and legislative issues in the offices of U.S. Senator Thom Tillis and U.S. Representatives Virginia Foxx, Mark Meadows, and Richard Hudson. His congressional service covered a wide range of policy issues including agriculture, immigration, health care, welfare, and economic development.

    Before this, he was responsible for direct lobbying, grassroots mobilization, and strategic initiatives for several advocacy groups, including the North Carolina Association of Realtors, the Susan B. Anthony List, and Concerned Veterans for America.

    Colton holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Sociology from Western Carolina University.

    Susan joined the FAIR staff in 2002. She is a former business owner, manager for municipal code enforcement, immigration coordinator for the Coalition of Government Officials (southern California), and president of Citizens Committee for Immigration Policy. Susan manages FAIR's extensive and national Field Program. She develops members and activist support and educates the media and public on immigration issues.

    Matthew O’Brien

    Director of Research

    Matthew J. O’Brien joined FAIR in 2016. Matt is responsible for managing FAIR’s research activities. He also writes content for FAIR’s website and publications. Over the past twenty years he has held a wide variety of positions focusing on immigration issues, both in government and in the private sector. Immediately prior to joining FAIR Matt served as the Chief of the National Security Division (NSD) within the Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate (FDNS) at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), where he was responsible for formulating and implementing procedures to protect the legal immigration system from terrorists, foreign intelligence operatives, and other national security threats. He has also held positions as the Chief of the FDNS Policy and Program Development Unit, as the Chief of the FDNS EB-5 Division, as Assistant Chief Counsel with U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement, as a Senior Advisor to the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman, and as a District Adjudications Officer with the legacy Immigration & Naturalization Service. In addition, Matt has extensive experience as a private bar attorney. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in French from the Johns Hopkins University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law.

    Bob joined FAIR in 2016 as the Development Director. He oversees the fundraising and donor relations efforts for FAIR. Bob has over 25 years of experience in the field of development that has included working for national, international and local non-profit organizations. He has worked for private Christian schools, institutions of higher education and national non-profit organizations that support our U.S. military veterans. Bob joined the FAIR staff after starting and running a successful fundraising consulting business. Bob and his family reside in northern Virginia.

    Julia Post joined FAIR’s Development Department in June of 2018 after serving for two years as FAIR’s Development and Digital Communications Intern. As Grant Specialist and Major Donor Relations Coordinator, Julia is responsible for drafting grant proposals and reports, cultivating relationships with private foundations and individual donors, and testing new online fundraising initiatives. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and American Government from American University.

    Brenda joined FAIR in 2018 as the Receptionist/Office Administrator. Brenda greets visitors, processes outgoing mail, answers incoming calls, assists Human Resources with leave tracking and monitors building security. She also supports the Finance and Administration Department by updating shared files and FAIR's policy and procedures manuals. Brenda brings over 20 years' experience supporting executive staff in the areas of medical billing, collections, accounting and office management.

    Brenda belongs to the Piscataway-Conoy Tribe, one of two only state-recognized Native American Tribe in the State of Maryland.

Raj is responsible for processing accounts payable, posting revenue, reconciling general ledger accounts and various other accounting duties. Raj also prepares state registrations on an annual basis and assists the Director of Finance and Administration with budget preparation and FAIR's annual audit.

As technology changes and grows, Gwen maintains all data and voice networks while updating applications and hardware when necessary. Gwen's knowledge allows FAIR employees to have access to the tools needed in today's computer age.
