This past week we all caught a glimpse into the magnitude of the fecklessness shown by Department of Homeland Security leadership as Border Patrol agents confronted them. While attending a “muster” in Yuma, Arizona, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was inundated with passionate, well-informed and legitimate concerns from the agents.
Their questions centered around the dramatic shift away from previous effective policies, resulting in the worst crisis along our southern border in modern history. Agents also voiced their dismay over their inability to safeguard the nation because they’re constantly being pulled off the front line to address the massive invasion of more than 3 million illegal immigrants who attempted to break into our country during the past 12 months.
Over the past 18 months, we have all witnessed the devastating harm wrought by a rogue administration that is asserting near-dictatorial powers in a relentless effort to keep our borders open. Marching in lockstep, President Biden and Democrats on Capitol Hill have created historic humanitarian, national security, public health and fiscal crises that are harming every city and state in the nation.
Amid a full-blown border crisis that threatens national security and public health — for which the Biden administration is wholly responsible — a bipartisan group of lawmakers has decided this might be a good time to fast-track citizenship for around 76,000 Afghan nationals who were lucky enough to force their way onto the last planes out of Kabul a year ago.
Former President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program has already been declared unlawful by a federal judge in Texas — a decision that is likely to be upheld later this year by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. In fact, Mr. Obama admitted, on 22 occasions, that he lacked the authority to grant across-the-board protections to illegal aliens before he succumbed to pressure from his political base and created DACA in 2012.

Earlier this month, as he seldom does, President Joe Biden took non-scripted questions from a reporter he wasn’t instructed to call on. A reporter asked the President about a Wall Street Journal report that revealed his administration was considering $450,000 payments to some 5,500 children and their illegal alien families who were allegedly separated when they crossed the southern border illegally while the Trump administration’s “Zero Tolerance” was in effect. The President, in his trademark “C’mon Man” fashion, called the proposal “garbage” and vowed it is “not going to happen.”
