Email Marketing Specialist
Does your heart flutter when you see open and click through rates increase? FAIR is looking for an Email Marketing Specialist to ensure the delivery of our organization’s message to the appropriate email segments in order to drive fundraising and activism goals. The ideal candidate is a strong writer who is collaborative, responsive, flexible, digitally savvy, detail-oriented, creative and data-driven. The Email Marketing Specialist is a part of FAIR’s Advancement Team.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop and execute all email communications for the organization in partnership with appropriate departments
- Perform day-to-day email marketing tasks including: designing creative, writing copy, reviewing and scheduling campaigns
- Monitor email performance and generate analytics reports to assess delivery and campaign efficiency in order to inform decisions on future campaigns
- Segment target audiences in email database and oversee lists to ensure subscribers are placed in the proper communication pathways at all times
- Manage the email database for lead generation, clean out non-deliverable email addresses/opt-outs and attempt to revive inactive subscribers
- Identify opportunities to improve existing and develop new email campaigns that drive engagement and donations; conduct research on email operations of similar organizations.
- Perform testing across all areas of email marketing including: landing pages, imagery, copy, subject lines, mobile optimization, etc.
- Collaborate with Government Relations and State & Local departments to create and schedule grassroots activism email campaigns
- Partner with Advancement team to guarantee marketing campaigns and promotions are integrated across all platforms including: social media, web, direct mail and email
- Work with Direct Response Manager to create integration between direct mail and email marketing efforts and drive email and online fundraising efforts
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in related field such as marketing, analytics or statistics, communications, political science or related field
- 2-4 years of related, proven successful work experience, preferably with an advocacy-oriented non-profit organization or a political campaign
- Experience with email service providers, Salesforce preferred
- Experience working with marketing automation tools, Marketo preferred
- Solid knowledge of HTML and content management systems, Drupal preferred
- Experience with grassroots activism platform, Phone-2-Action, a plus
- Experience in tracking email data, formulating reports and conducting A/B testing
- Working knowledge of email best practices including: design principles, metrics, testing, data hygiene and compliance
- Excellent written communication and copywriting skills
- Strong analytical skills with understanding of Google Analytics
- A collaborative spirit and team orientation
- Interest in making a real difference with your work and comfortable working in a more controversial area of public policy
- Must be creative, extremely detail-oriented and organized

Executive Assistant

About this Position
FAIR’s President seeks a highly organized Executive Assistant to support daily fundraising, marketing and digital communications efforts. This role demands strong coordination, problem solving and team building skills, along with excellent attention to detail and an ability to change tasks quickly.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, political science or relevant field; at least seven years of professional work experience, preferably on Capitol Hill
- Must have event planning and board liaison experience
- Work experience as a project administrator, coordinator or similar role
- Stellar organizational skills; must be able to track proposals, letters and contracts as well as project deadlines
- Highly proficient in writing, editing and proofreading
- Experience with fundraising or grant proposals, a plus
- Professional maturity and strong communication skills
- Ability to balance the needs of multiple internal stakeholders and enforce deadlines when necessary
- Experience with project management software (Trello, Asana, Microsoft Project), donor database CRMs, online engagement tools, a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Main Responsibilities
- Schedule, organize and attend project meetings; record decisions and changes
- Break projects into doable tasks and set timeframes and goals
- Create and update workflows and processes for managing project timelines; track deadlines and follow up with team members to ensure tasks are completed
- Create and manage project calendar
- Track, file and organize duplicate copies of documents related to projects
- Provide administrative support as needed; editing and proofreading fundraising or marketing content, etc
- Manage the President’s calendar, travel and events
- Manage event and travel planning for board meetings and other events

Foundations & Major Donor Relations Officer
FAIR is looking for an aspiring development professional to support FAIR’s membership services and fundraising efforts. The Foundations & Major Donor Relations Officer will work directly under the Director of Advancement in the development of sustaining relationships with current and future foundations and individual major donors that support FAIR’s mission. The person holding this position should be a strong writer and communicator who is able to grasp complex policy ideas and communicate them effectively to a broad array of audiences.
Responsibilities:
- Help steward current foundations and major donors with the Director of Advancement
- Research to find new private foundations and potential major donors that might support FAIR’s mission
- Draft letters of inquiry and funding proposals for foundations.
- Work with the Director of Advancement to create compelling proposals and letters to support the individual major donor program
- Maintain foundation and major donor records, ensure they are up-to-date in the FAIR donor database and foundation files
- Support FAIR and affiliates in drafting proposals to foundations that might support their work
- Support FAIR and affiliates in creating thank you letters, initiating thank you calls and coordinating meetings with major donors
- Manage major donor portfolios, establish stewardship plans for new donors
Qualifications:
- Strong support for and alignment with FAIR’s mission
- Have an expert ability to translate complex subject matter into writing for foundation and individual major donor requests
- Have a bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years fundraising experience, preferably with a non-profit (internship experience will be considered)

FAIR’s Advancement Department is a 360-degree outreach and marketing operation that includes both comprehensive fundraising and educational marketing and digital technologies for all other programmatic departments at every level of the organization.
Depending on interests or experience level, positions may also be available in other FAIR departments including media, research, field, and government relations.
What we are looking for in a candidate:
- Strong commitment to FAIR’s mission and demonstrated interest in immigration policy, history and U.S. politics; a strong desire to learn about or develop immigration policy
- Proficiency in writing, reading, editing and proofreading for a variety of communications, which may include: letters, emails, social media posts, blogs, issue briefs and fact sheets, reports and proposals
- Ability to work in all areas of membership communications. This department oversees: direct mail, phone calls, thank you notes, graphics, emails, newsletters, alerts, petitions, polls, sign-up forms, video briefings and social media posts
- Desire to learn about fundraising, development and digital technology trends in the political and non-profit sector (prior experience a plus)
- Enthusiastic, independent, creative and critical thinking skills; positivity and a willingness to work hard and apply new ideas in a controversial area of public policy
Qualifications
- A proven track-record of high performance in academics, internships, fellowships or prior work experience
- Educational background in the liberal arts, history, politics, public policy, public administration, public relations or communications, marketing or any other relevant areas

Government Relations Policy Advisor
Join a team of dedicated professionals at a critical time in the immigration reform movement at Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), a national non-profit that advocates for enforcing our immigration laws and protecting American workers. FAIR is seeking a policy professional (preferably an attorney) to work in its Federal Government Relations Department.
The position is responsible for furthering FAIR’s legislative and regulatory agenda of enforcing immigration laws, fighting amnesty, and protecting American workers. Responsibilities include tracking and analyzing legislation and amendments; commenting on regulations; drafting reports and fact sheets; and generally assisting the advocacy work of FAIR’s Government Relations Department. The Government Relations Policy Advisor reports to FAIR’s Government Relations Director.
Duties:
- Conduct large-scale research and analysis efforts to build supporting arguments for regulatory comments, presentations to Members of Congress, and congressional staff
- Assist in the drafting of legislation, amendments, and regulatory comments to further FAIR’s interests
- Draft detailed policy memoranda and talking points for FAIR lobbyists in advance of meetings with Members of Congress and the Administration;
- Contribute substantive materials for dissemination on FAIR’s website, blog, and to FAIR members, including legislative and regulatory summaries, as well as weekly updates, grassroots alerts, and fact sheets
- Identify, track, and advise on public policy developments impacting FAIR’s programs and objectives
- Attend hearings, briefings, seminars, coalition meetings, and other events on behalf of the Government Relations Department
- Assist the Government Relations Director in overseeing the placement and dissemination of the department’s work product.
Qualifications:
- Government Relations Policy Advisor: Law degree required. White House, federal agency, Capitol Hill, or other policy experience strongly preferred
- Government Relations Policy Analyst: Law degree preferred. White House, federal agency, Capitol Hill, or relevant policy experience required
- The ability to review, evaluate, edit, and draft federal immigration legislation and regulations
- Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills
- Must have a keen eye for detail
- Ability to set priorities, work independently, and produce materials in a consistent, efficient, and timely manner
- Immigration policy experience, judgment, and discretion, including an understanding of lobbying, congressional committees, and federal legislative procedures and grassroots targeting
- Superb interpersonal and communication skills, especially the ability to explain complex policy issues in plain language
- Ability to work effectively as part of FAIR’s advocacy team
- Strong commitment to FAIR’s mission and the ability to quickly gain understanding and knowledge of issues impacting immigration law or policy
- Professional judgment in all aspects of one’s work; the ability to set priorities, work independently, and produce professional materials of the highest quality in a fast-paced environment
