Illegal Aliens Issue List of Demands After Hundreds Take Over City Park and Refuse to Leave
In a brazen display of entitlement, hundreds of illegal aliens from Africa and Venezuela swarmed and took over Powell Barnett Park in Seattle. The group established an encampment and now has a list of demands for the city, including free housing, food, and a host of other benefits that taxpayers would have to fund.
This incident underscores how lax border security, as well as sanctuary cities, embolden illegal aliens inside the U.S. and give them a sense of entitlement.
The group of more than 200 illegal aliens constructed makeshift shelters atop wood pallets. One migrant from the Republic of Congo stated, “So far, they haven’t kicked us out, and we plan to stay until we get housing.” He also said the government owes them a fast track to asylum and a work permit. Other illegal aliens in the group echoed the same demands.
Some of the illegal aliens were previously housed in a motel until city funding dried up. Now, the sense of entitlement is palpable and growing. One migrant went so far as to claim they are “the future of America,” which is a bold statement considering they are openly flouting the nation’s laws while demanding taxpayer-funded support.
Seattle, being a sanctuary jurisdiction, is, of course, doing nothing to discourage illegal immigration. Instead, the city says it is taking these demands very seriously. A group of left-wing activists is further involving the community by soliciting donations of tents, blankets and tarps.
Stunning aerial footage captured the camp, which is not healthy or safe. No one should live in these conditions, and the local residents shouldn’t have to deal with the risks of this being in their backyards.
There are many to blame here. The Biden administration for its open-border policies that allow groups like these to illegally cross the border and then roam free throughout America. Sanctuary city Seattle for allowing illegal aliens to come en masse and offering them public assistance and protection from immigration authorities. Illegal aliens are also to blame for breaking our immigration laws and thinking they’re entitled to support from the American taxpayer.
Illegal immigration already costs American taxpayers over $150 billion per year and costs Washington state alone $2.62 billion. America cannot afford to and should not provide unlimited resources to anyone and everyone who comes here illegally. It’s neither sustainable nor fair to American citizens who are expected to bear the burden of these illegal aliens.
Americans should expect those who wish to come to the United States to do so through legal avenues with gratitude and respect for the nation’s laws. Taking over a city park and demanding government assistance is not that.
Until the border is secured, either through executive action by President Biden or the passing of H.R.2, the Secure the Border Act, illegal aliens will continue to come, and the cities across the country will see more parks taken over and illegal aliens issuing demands for things they think they’re entitled to.
