USCIS Union Opposes Amnesty
The National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council (NCISC), the union representing approximately 12,000 immigration enforcement officers, announced its opposition to the Senate’s Gang of Eight immigration reform legislation.
Previously, the National ICE Council, another government union representing Immigration & Customs Enforcement employees, warned that this legislation was a danger to the general public.
According to Politico, these two unions represent more than 20,000 Department of Homeland Security employees working in immigration.
NCISC president, Kenneth Palinkas stated:
Yet, like the ICE Council, the USCIS Council was not consulted in the crafting of the Gang of Eight’s legislation. Instead, the legislation was written with special interests- producing a bill that makes the current system worse, not better. S. 744 will damage public safety and national security and should be opposed by lawmakers.
