Colorado State University Issues “Stimulus” Funds to Illegal Aliens

In addition to states and localities issuing so-called “stimulus funds” to illegal aliens, now Colorado State University (CSU) has jumped on the bandwagon.

Two hundred and eighteen illegal alien students at CSU, not eligible for “stimulus funds” under the CARES Act, each received $1,500 in university funds before the middle of May. These funds according to a CSU spokesperson were based on an assessment of the student’s need.  So far these payments to illegal aliens have cost CSU about $327,000.

These handouts come at the same time when CSU is losing approximately $105.5 million due to the economic impact from the pandemic and the lockdowns. CSU President Joyce McConnell says this loss will require the university to undertake budget cuts “beyond anything we have ever experienced.”

News of CSU’s illegal-alien stimulus immediately led to an online petition, calling for the U.S. Department of Education to revoke CSU’s federal school code for a year.  Petition organizer Chris DeBon says, “[i]f you believe institutions that give handouts to illegal immigrants should be cut off from federal funds — this petition is for you.”  In its Fiscal Year 2018 budgeted revenue report, CSU indicated it received over $7.7 million in federal taxpayer funds. 

According to the U.S. Department of Education, as of the 2017-2018 academic year there were 1,626 public colleges in the United States.
