The following is a brief summary of significant amendments Alabama House Bill 658 makes to the
Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizens Protection Act of 2011 (HB 56), the immigration
enforcement law that Alabama enacted in 2011.
HB 658 was signed into law by Governor Bentley on May 18, 2012. The enrolled version of HB 658
amends 13 of the 34 sections of HB 56. HB 658 also adds several new sections to the Alabama code.
