Legislative Options to Replace DACA
Lawmakers are currently discussing potential changes to U.S. immigration laws following President Trump’s announcement to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The unlawful DACA program was unilaterally created by President Obama in 2012 to defer deportation and grant work permits to illegal aliens who arrived in the United States before their 16th birthday, in addition to meeting other criteria.
Unfortunately, several of the legislative proposals currently being considered provide amnesty to millions of more illegal aliens than even those who have received benefits under the DACA program. To better educate policymakers and the general public, FAIR has prepared this chart to compare these proposals, as they currently stand.
