NO BAN Act Vote Postponed
By Preston Huennekens | FAIR Take | March 2020
After President Trump’s Oval Office address, Democratic leadership pulled the controversial NO BAN Act from the legislative calendar. The NO BAN Act would rescind all of President Trump’s prior travel bans, one of which includes restrictions on Iranian nationals. The House pulled the legislation in order to focus their attention of passing coronavirus-related bills that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) continues to negotiate with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who is leading the White House’s negotiations with House Democrats.
It is unclear at this time when and if the NO BAN Act will return to the legislative calendar after the coronavirus crisis has passed. But for now, this FAIR-opposed legislation remains in limbo.
