Illegal Border Crossings Today:

American workers

The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted daily life for families and communities throughout America, while creating unprecedented perils for our nation’s economic, national security and immigration systems.

This historic moment is a test of leadership for our government and civic institutions, and the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is no exception. Like you, we remain resolute and committed to promoting public health, ending the displacement of American workers and preserving the integrity of our immigration laws.

Now is our chance to advance public understanding of the importance of securing our borders and responsibly limiting immigration. And that is just what we are going to do.

In the face of demands for more benefits for foreign workers and illegal immigrants, FAIR will stand up for hard-working Americans by heightening public awareness and understanding of immigration’s impact on our fellow Americans. Polls show wide support for pausing immigration right now, so we cannot let this opportunity to achieve real and lasting change pass us by!

The Time for Action to Achieve National Self-Reliance is Now!

That’s why FAIR is setting a bold goal. We are aiming to raise $100,000 by May 31st. This special funding will support FAIR’s continued efforts to implement common-sense immigration limits, end American dependence on foreign labor, and rebuild the American workforce so that we will be self-reliant and prosperous for generations to come.

With Your Support, We Will:

  • Expose and stop the special interests who are lobbying in Washington, D.C. and nationwide for more foreign labor at a time of near-record unemployment;

  • Fund investigative research into the effects of foreign labor displacement on America’s working class families;

  • Put pressure on Congress to prevent illegal aliens from receiving COVID-19 relief funds and from receiving preference for jobs when businesses open up and the economy rebounds; and

  • Promote the adoption of changes to our immigration system that will better position our nation for future public health or economic crises.

Working together, we will come back stronger, wiser and better than ever.

Other Ways to Get Involved

How FAIR is Helping During the Crisis

While physically separated, FAIR’s team is working nonstop to bring you the latest immigration news, keen policy analysis, and, most importantly, to make sure your voice is heard by lawmakers in the states and in Washington, D.C

What have we been up to lately? A lot, but here are a few highlights:

Breaking the News

While the Centers for Disease Control website is providing up-to-date COVID-19 data and guidance, FAIR’s Live-Time Tracker is a great way to follow how the federal immigration agencies are responding to the coronavirus crisis.

Separating the News from the Noise

FAIR believes it is even more important in these challenging times to put the news in its proper context and to view it through a nonpartisan lens. Through issue briefs, State & Local updates, and our blog site, FAIR’s experts continue to offer acute insight on events of the day and how they impact your family and community. For example, an issue brief by Matt O’Brien, FAIR’s Director of Research, put the present pandemic in historical context and offered specific ways we can strengthen our public health security.

Promoting Your Voice and Protecting Your Interests

As lawmakers in Washington, D.C. understandably rushed to respond to give assistance to devastated businesses and hard-working Americans impacted by this pandemic, special interests opposing enforcement of our immigration laws tried to seize any opportunity to further their agenda. Thanks to FAIR, they failed.

Working behind the scenes and in public, FAIR met with key officials on Capitol Hill and at the White House to stop guest worker increases and prevent dangerous provisions from being included in a rescue package. The result? Poison pills, such as allowing illegal aliens to receive recovery rebates and giving funding to sanctuary cities, were stripped from the $2 trillion CARES Act. In the coming days, the Trump administration, Congress and state legislatures will make critical decisions that could dramatically impact our way of life. We will be watching and acting on your behalf.

These are uncertain times for many Americans and the challenges ahead demand that we stand together as one and on behalf of each other. For now, we wish you and your family health, safety and better days to come. And thank you for continuing to support FAIR’s critical mission. We couldn’t do it without you.
