Documents Obtained by Congressional Committee Show Massive Abuse of CBP One App
In a release on Monday, the House Homeland Security Committee detailed shocking information obtained from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which revealed that 95.8 percent of all inadmissible aliens who used the CBP One app to schedule appointments from January 12, 2023 to September 30, 2023 were released into the interior of the United States.
According to the documents, out of 278,431 appointments scheduled via the CBP One app, 266,846 aliens were released into the United States in less than a year. Of those released, 19,828 nationals released were from hostile nations such as Russia, China, and Iran. Aliens with the highest release rates were from Venezuela, Honduras, Guatemala, Russia, and Afghanistan.

The new documents were obtained after the Committee sent repeated requests (dating back to early June) to DHS for more information regarding the expanded use of the CBP One app. The Committee was stonewalled multiple times by DHS, and only received a response after Chairman Green raised the possibility of subpoenaing Secretary Mayorkas on October 13. After viewing the data in DHS’ response, it is clear why the department was reluctant to comply.
The CBP One app has been a subject of scrutiny from the House Homeland Security Committee since the Biden Administration chose to expand its use. In June of 2023, Chairman Green and Congressman Higgins wrote a letter to Secretary Mayorkas stating, “What began as a streamlined system for customs and inspections has turned into a scheduling system for illegal aliens at our Southwest border.” The CBP One app is now used to foster the mass release of illegal aliens under the guise of a “lawful” pathway.
DHS has touted the CBP One app as a “safe, orderly and humane” process for aliens to access ports of entry. However, the Committee has challenged those claims, noting that “to schedule a time to appear at a port of entry, a migrant must still make the dangerous journey to Mexico, where there is a high probability they will be assaulted, raped, or killed.”
According to Chairmen Green, “these numbers are proof that Mayorkas’ operation is a smokescreen for the mass release of individuals into this country who would otherwise have zero claim to be admitted.” The documents obtained by the Committee are further proof of the Biden Administration’s efforts to create unlawful parole programs to hide the crisis at our borders.
Not all migrants are using the CBP One App either. According to Fox News and sources from CBP, there are 1,000 “gotaways” coming across the border each day – over 23,000 since October 1st of this year.
As highlighted by FAIR, the number of illegal aliens encountered at our southern border hit an all-time high in Fiscal Year (FY) 2023. Over the past twelve months, CBP has encountered a stunning 3.2 million illegal aliens at our borders – more than all four years of the Trump Administration combined. The FY 2023 total represents a 16 percent increase over FY 2022 (2.76 million) and a 63 percent increase over FY 2021 (1.96 million).
