Migrant Children to Receive In-person Teaching Before American Students
San Diego Unified School District (SDUD) will be offering in-person instruction to unaccompanied alien children (UAC) at the San DiegoConvention Center through July. The program includes English language development and social-emotional learning opportunities. This comes as our own students across the country have not been allowed back in school for over a year due to COVID concerns.
The program is reportedly being run on a volunteer basis which is questionable considering many teachers unions are refusing to allow teachers to return to the classroom for in-person instruction, citing that it is still “too unsafe for reopening.”
Ironically, in many facilities, the migrant children have far higher COVID rates than the lawfully present students who are supposed to be attending these schools. Some of President Biden’s “overflow facilities” are currently 1,700 percent over the safe COVID-compliant capacity limits. At least 82 of the 700 girls now being housed at the San Diego Convention Center have tested positive for the virus. That is an infection rate of about 11 percent compared to the .0018 percent for San Diego residents.
San Diego County is supposed to reopen schools on a hybrid basis (combining in-person and virtual instruction) on April 12. The concern now lies in potential infection rates from the teachers possibly spreading the virus throughout their schools when they return to the classroom to teach the rest of their students.
Parents in San Diego County are angry, and rightfully so. One SDUD parent told Fox News, “The system is broken when San Diego teachers are teaching migrant children in person, but the 100,000 students of taxpaying families at San Diego Unified School District are stuck learning in Zoom school.”
When grilled about the in-person teaching for illegal aliens in San Diego County, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki defended the move, but ultimately sidestepped the conversation stating, “context is important,” pointing to the schools’ plan to reopen part-time in April as justification for the action. She failed to address COVID concerns among the migrant facilities.
This is yet another blow to the American people as foreign nationals who came here illegally are being rewarded for their actions, and taxpaying, law-abiding Americans are thrown to the side.
