We The People Awards

The "We The People" Awards celebrates those whose efforts have demonstrated exceptional service to the immigration reform movement. We applaud their dedication and commitment through leadership and representation.

Jack Kingston

news

When it comes to E-Verify, there is no greater supporter than Congressman Jack Kingston (R-GA). Congressman Kingston has worked tirelessly to extend the deadline of the E-verify program and has led the fight in Congress to require federal contractors use the program. This year alone, Congressman Kingston has offered numerous amendments to appropriations bills to ensure that Federal contractors will be required to use E-Verify. When Congressman Kingston fights for E-Verify, he is also fighting for the American worker. For his efforts, FAIR is proud to recognize Congressman Jack Kingston as the 2009 winner of the "People’s Representative" Award.

Carol Helm

news

Carol Helms, FAIR’s "People's Leadership" Award recipient for grassroots activism has worked tirelessly as a leader among activist in her state of Oklahoma. In 2003, after seeing illegal immigration impacting her town of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carol contacted FAIR to start an activist group, Immigration Reform for Oklahoma (IRON). Carol started by getting the Tulsa City Council to require proof of legal presence for construction workers on the city’s new arena. But her worked didn’t stop there. She lobbied at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City every week; educating each State Representative and Senator - Democrat, Republican and Independent alike - on the costs and impacts of illegal immigration in Oklahoma. Carol has worked with FAIR, IRLI and Oklahoma state lawmakers to draft and promote legislation that was passed in 2007 and which is among the toughest state immigration reform laws in the nation.

Glenn Beck

news

Each year FAIR presents the "People's Voice" Award to a person in the media who effectively articulates the concerns and the interests of the American people on the immigration debate. Glenn Beck gives voice to the frustrations felt by millions of law-abiding, hard-working Americans who believe that when it comes to making enforcing U.S. immigration policies, their interests come last. Day-after-day on his Premiere Radio Network and Fox News television programs, Glenn has been passionate in asserting that the interests of the American people must be served by American immigration policies. He challenges politicians and special interests who are selling out the interests of ordinary Americans. No one who listens to, or watches Glenn, can doubt his deep commitment to true immigration reform. That commitment and dedication comes at a price. In the face of withering attacks, Glenn has never backed down and never stopped representing the interests of the American people.
