Julie Kirchner Named Executive Director of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)(Washington, D.C. - October 2, 2007) The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) today is pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Kirchner as Executive Director of FAIR, the nation's largest national, non-profit U.S. immigration reform organization working to ensure U.S. immigration policies reflect the broad national interest. FAIR's National Headquarters are located in Washington, D.C. In this role, Ms. Kirchner will manage all of the organization's Washington and national operations. In making this announcement, Dan Stein, President of FAIR, said, "The Board of Directors and I are both proud and excited to be making this announcement. In her previous work with FAIR as the Director of Government Relations, Ms. Kirchner has demonstrated a dynamic ability to 'make things happen' and bring about significant positive change both in FAIR's external relations and the internal operations of the organization. I could not be more pleased," Stein said. "She is a real professional, and it was a natural choice given her impressive track record in this and the previous year's national immigration debate." Nancy Anthony, Chairman of the Board, said, "Julie is a very dedicated individual who has brought creative ideas, crisp thinking and contagious enthusiasm to the organization. The Board was unanimous in approving this appointment as the right person to serve in this key role." Ms. Kirchner is only the third person to serve as Executive Director since FAIR was founded in 1978. Stein said that under Ms. Kirchner's leadership, the organization will continue its growth and influence in the national immigration dialogue and reach greater strides in achieving its ambitious goal to advance the way America thinks about immigration and its role in the 21st Century. Prior to joining FAIR, Ms. Kirchner worked as counsel at the Minnesota House of Representatives, where she staffed the Judiciary and Civil Law Committees. In addition to this legislative experience, Ms. Kirchner has worked both as a private litigator and criminal prosecutor. She earned her B.A. at Yale University and received her J.D. with high distinction at the University of Iowa College of Law. FAIR will be relocating its national office to 25 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W, Washington, D.C. on Capitol Hill in January. |
